Chassis cab flatbed for truck campers

A chassis cab flatbed from Aluma Tray is the HD-60 or the HD-60-HC, built for domestic commercial chassis cabs with a 60 inch cab to axle and rated to 5,000 lbs evenly distributed. The HD-84 is in development for 84 inch cab to axle chassis as the 2027 model.

What a chassis cab flatbed is

A chassis cab has no box, so the tray is the bed. A chassis cab flatbed, or cab and chassis flatbed, bolts to the frame behind the cab and gives a camper a flat deck to sit on. The HD-60 mounts to dealer drilled chassis locations on 5 inch SIL rails, fully isolated from the chassis with powder coated steel mounts and urethane bushings.

What decides the fit is the cab to axle measurement, not the model name on the door. Both the Aluma Tray HD-60 and the Aluma Tray HD-60-HC are built for 60 inch cab to axle. Unlike the pickup trays, they mount to dealer drilled locations, which is one reason these builds go through a dealer or the factory rather than a driveway install.

60 inch vs 84 inch cab to axle

Cab to axle, usually written CA, is the distance from the back of the cab to the center of the rear axle. On a chassis cab it is the number that decides what body fits. Here is how to measure cab to axle.

At 60 inch cab to axle you have two trays: the HD-60, and the HD-60-HC if you carry an OEV High Country camper. Fit kits for the HD-60 are made for 60 inch CA North American trucks only.

For a longer chassis, the 84 inch cab to axle flatbed is the HD-84. In development as the 2027 model. The first one is being built now. There is no price, weight or load rating to quote yet.

If your chassis is neither, talk to us before you order. Don't assume a nearby measurement is close enough.

Both starting prices include the bulkhead. Priced on their own lines: the tray to chassis mounting kit ($1,166), the fuel kit priced by your engine ($290 gas, $290 diesel without DEF, $542 diesel with DEF), and the dually fender kit ($2,268) if the chassis runs dual rear wheels. See the dually flatbed page for that. Your dealer quotes the installation. Nothing here is a build total, and every option is on aluminum flatbed prices.

Which trucks

These are the flatbed for cab and chassis trucks we have confirmed. Each one needs a 60 inch cab to axle, and the HD-60-HC fits the same chassis when it carries a High Country.

The HD-84 is being built for domestic commercial chassis cabs at 84 inch cab to axle. Which trucks it fits will be confirmed with the rest of its specs.

Load rating and payload

The HD-60 and HD-60-HC are both rated to 5,000 lbs evenly distributed. The pickup trays, the 6.75' and 8', are rated to 3,000 lbs evenly distributed. The HD-84 load rating is not published yet.

That rating is the tray, not your truck. The tray's own weight comes out of your payload before the camper goes on: the HD-60 is ≥ 840 lbs and the HD-60-HC is ≥ 900 lbs. Start from the payload on your truck's door jamb sticker. The truck camper flatbed guide walks through the math.

Chassis mounted truck campers on an Aluma Tray

Chassis mounted campers on an Aluma Tray ride on the flatbed, not straight on the frame. The tray bolts to the chassis, and the camper is secured to the tray.

Most campers are held down with TorkLift tie-downs. The HD-60 has TorkLift Derringer compatible camper anchor points.

The OEV High Country is the exception. It has feet on its underside that drop into four tapered pockets in the Aluma Tray HD-60-HC deck, and it bolts down, so the tray and camper travel as one. A High Country can also ride on a standard tray with TorkLift tie-downs. See OEV campers on an Aluma Tray.

Fit depends on the camper, not just the truck. Send us the camper model and its dimensions and we confirm the pairing in writing. More on truck campers that fit an Aluma Tray.

Questions

Chassis cab flatbed questions

What is a chassis cab flatbed?

It is a flatbed built to go on a chassis cab, a truck sold with no box. The flatbed bolts to the frame and becomes the bed. The Aluma Tray HD-60 and Aluma Tray HD-60-HC are chassis cab flatbeds for 60 inch cab to axle chassis, rated to 5,000 lbs evenly distributed.

Which Aluma Tray fits a chassis cab?

At 60 inch cab to axle, the Aluma Tray HD-60, or the Aluma Tray HD-60-HC if you carry an OEV High Country camper. At 84 inch cab to axle, the Aluma Tray HD-84 is in development as the 2027 model. Measure your cab to axle before you order.

Which chassis cab trucks does the HD-60 fit?

Any domestic commercial chassis cab with a 60 inch cab to axle. That includes the F-350 chassis cab, F-450 or F-550 chassis cab, Ram 3500 chassis cab, Ram 4500 or 5500 chassis cab and Silverado or Sierra 3500HD chassis cab, when the chassis is built at 60 inch.

What if my chassis is 84 inch cab to axle?

The Aluma Tray HD-84 is being built for it. In development as the 2027 model. The first one is being built now. It has an 8 foot flatbed length and an independent garage with gullwing doors at the front. Price, weight and load rating are not published yet, so sign up on the HD-84 page to hear when they are.

Can a chassis mounted truck camper go on an Aluma Tray?

Yes, on the HD-60 or HD-60-HC. The camper rides on the flatbed rather than straight on the frame: the tray bolts to the chassis and the camper is secured to the tray, most with TorkLift tie-downs. The OEV High Country bolts into the HD-60-HC. Fit depends on the camper, so send us the model.

What is a cab and chassis camper?

It is a truck camper carried on a chassis cab instead of a pickup. A chassis cab has no box, so a flatbed goes on first and the camper sits on the flatbed. On a 60 inch cab to axle chassis, that flatbed is the HD-60 or the HD-60-HC.

Is the bulkhead included on a chassis cab flatbed?

Yes. The HD-60 includes its 7" tapered, full width 84" bulkhead. The HD-60-HC includes the 15" solid bulkhead on the driver side, and the passenger side is your choice: a 15" matching box ($2,491) or a 14.5" spare tire carrier ($1,034).

Does a dually chassis cab need anything extra?

Yes. A dual rear wheel chassis needs the dually fender extension kit, $2,268 USD. It is available on the HD-60 and HD-60-HC and includes the fenders, a stair mount extender and a set of jack extensions for the front jacks.

How much does a chassis cab flatbed cost?

The HD-60 starts at $17,820 USD and the HD-60-HC at $19,075 USD, both with the bulkhead included. The tray to chassis mounting kit ($1,166), the fuel kit and, on dual rear wheels, the dually fender kit are priced on their own lines, and your dealer quotes the installation. The HD-84 has no price yet.
